VISIT OAXACA, A VALUABLE NATURAL HERITAGE

Oaxaca is one of those beauties that cannot be described in a couple of words. It is a delight between architecture, history, gastronomy, traditions and exuberant nature that have been preserved throughout the centuries.  Oaxaca has a unique identity encompassed in eight geographical regions. And a great place for Spanish Immersion program.

Today, we will focus on a beautiful lagoon, Manialtepec. In Nahuatl “manial” means where the water sprouts and “tepec” is hill, which means “water born from the hill” (Quintanar, 2007 ).

This exceptional beauty intermingles the salt, fresh and thermal water that is exalted among lush vegetation surrounded by mangroves due to its proximity to the coastal area of Puerto Escondido, which gives it a tropical climate of between 22º Celsius, varied ecosystems which makes it the perfect habitat for wildlife, land and marine life that can be enjoyed in its small areas of beaches that are distributed in its approximately six kilometers in length (Malpica, Vargas, Hernández & Alemán, 2011).

This natural beauty is of distinguishable beauty, but at night it is more than that. It becomes a dream, by moving its waters, it makes it shine before the pupils of its own and strangers in a bright blue color that from scientific concepts refers to being a phenomenon called “bioluminescence” which is the effect of a world or living society of organisms such as bacteria, fungi, insects and crustaceans, molluscs and fish that communicate, reproduce, defend and attract their prey so that they can feed on it that emit the brightness as a chemical reaction in order to protect themselves from their predators. This is of greater joy in the months of May to November (Morales, 2019).

Can you imagine swimming and watching your body shine? It does sound like a great adventure that you can not pass up, it is so unique that you can only save in your memories, since cell phones or cameras can not capture such a beautiful occurrence of nature.
